On May 26th, 2010, Vietnam Open Day – with attendance of more than 60 people including HanoiLUG members and others who have interest in this event – was greatly successful. This event was held by iWay, eXo SEA and Asianux Vietnam, 3 active enterprises in free and open source sofware (FOSS).
A large attendance at this event shared their opinion about new-translated books about FOSS and “Creative Summer 2010” for students interest in FOSS. At the same time when this event took place, set of new-released FOSS applications and products was warmly greeted such as Meego 1.0, 3.0 GateIn portal, Ubuntu 10.04, and especially the latest distribution of the Fedora project - Fedora 13.
Although this distribution wears the tabu number to the Western, but Fedora 13 is confident to bring all new impressed features to users, administrators and developers. With slogan “stay ahead”, the latest Fedora release comes with KDE 4.4 and GNOME 2.30 desktops, Firefox 3.6.3, OpenOffice.org 3.2, the 2.6.33 Linux kernel, and hundreds of other package updates. In addition, Network Manager improvements, Automatic Printer Driver Installation, Experimental Nouveau 3D for Nvidia, System Rollback Using Btrfs, concern of Fedora with education to the education community through Sugar Learning Environment, Python Debugging and Parallel Installs... allow all user to reap the benefits of features from a latest modern distro.
