The cooperation between open source service providers is a good signal for open source software community in Vietnam.

Hanoi, October 15 2009, Asianux Vietnam and Information Way Joint Stock Company (iWay) have signed an agreement to deploy activities, promote applications of information technology in general and free open source software (FOSS) in particular to customers and users, and also create a long-term relationship between both parties.

Based on the spirit of cooperation for development, agreement has focused on :

• Developing solutions and services based on FOSS to provide and satisfy user needs within reasonable cost.
• Setting programs and projects to promote FOSS in Vietnam, in both perception and use, bring more benefits to user through FOSS products.
• iWay will be Asianux operating system distributor for both servers and workstations. iWay will do services based on Asianux.

Both parties commit to collaborate with each other in establishment and human resources provision in FOSS development projects.

On this occasion, Dr. Nguyen Hong Quang from Institute of Francophone Information (IFI), one of the representative for the open source community in Vietnam, said: “this such good job for community should be made since long time ago. Cooperation to create more values for users is always a good way for union. Hope that we will have more and more cooperations like this in FOSS business in Vietnam in the future.”

Cooperation to create a common standard for FOSS then bring more benefits to customers is always the best value for both iWay and Asinux Vietnam to reach to.
